The Copper Peach began with a simple idea: bring Southern BBQ to the Upper Peninsula, and do it the right way.

 

Long before the doors opened, the fire was already being stoked — how smoke imparts a certain flavor based on wood species, how time changes meat, and how patience rewards those willing to wait. Those lessons came from Southern BBQ traditions, shaped by years at the pit and a deep respect for the craft.

 

Bringing that tradition north wasn’t about changing it — it was about sharing it. The Copper Peach was built as a place where slow food still matters, where meals are meant to be enjoyed together, and where the process is just as important as the plate in front of you.

Over time, it grew into more than a restaurant. It became a place to gather, to learn, and to pass along the culture of BBQ — from the way we cook, to the tools and woods we trust, to the moments shared around the table.
